CRISPY CHICKEN STRIPS

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken breast tenders or chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken strips in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare Breading Stations:
    • In one shallow bowl, place the flour.
    • In a second shallow bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Bread the Chicken Strips:
    • Remove the chicken strips from the buttermilk, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off.
    • Dredge each strip in the flour, shaking off any excess.
    • Dip the floured chicken into the panko mixture, pressing gently to ensure the coating sticks well.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Cook the Chicken Strips:
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
    • Place the breaded chicken strips in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they do not touch or overlap. Lightly spray the tops of the chicken strips with cooking spray.
    • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway through, until the chicken strips are golden brown and crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy chicken strips hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
